Family Halloween Traditions

post featured image

October is my favorite month; change of seasons (Fall!), my birthday, Halloween. I wish it was a couple weeks longer. Yesterday Sutton was home from school because of teacher in-service and we had the best time adding Halloween decor to the house and starting what I feel like will be a 10-day sugar high. We made witches brew, put on new halloween pj’s & watched “Room on the Broom“, one of the kids favorite Halloween movies. Holiday family nights are a tradition that we all look forward to!

The end of the year can be such a busy time for both work & family life, but I don’t want to miss out on celebrating and creating family holiday traditions. On our weekly trip to Walmart I can always quickly find everything I need to be able to put together seasonal family fun. From Trunk or Treat to “Booing” our neighbors and family movie nights Walmart has the best assortment of quality decor & treats to put it all together. Not only can we find everything to complete the look, we save with rollback prices that can’t be beat anywhere else. This 5′ skeleton that the kids lovingly call Bob, was one of our favorite deals we found at Walmart.

I loved all the halloween specific candy & treats too; Reese’s ghosts & pumpkins, so cute! I added the ghosts to one of the jars along side pumpkin marshmallows & candy corn.

For “witches brew” we put apple juice in a mug, the kids added in candy of their choice, and then we added a marshmallow peep to the side & topped it with a black & white straw. The kids of course loved the freedom of mixing up & enjoying a sugary drink!

Our Halloween Traditions:

  1. Halloween Movie Night
  2. Trunk or Treat at School
  3. Boo our Neighbors
  4. Trick or Treating (of course!)

What traditions do you have with your family this time of year? Would love to hear in the comments.
