Home Build Update

Alright, ladies, I can’t tell you all how excited I am to finally be sharing our first Hillyard Home // New Build update with you all! It feels like such a long time coming but now that we are well on our way I am beyond excited to share this whole process with you gals! This is the first of many home build updates, from home progress to home inspo I will be sharing the whole journey! 

For those of you who don’t know, we are building a new home in KC (actually very close to where we live now). We started this process over a year ago and I have to say the finding for the perfect spot was definitely a story in itself! You can read more about that here, but we originally weren’t looking to build from the ground up. We originally found a beautiful home built by Starr Homes (out current builder) and fell in love with their work. So last April we finally found the perfect location and lot, started the tear down in October, and started drawing up plans. 

and now it’s already June…. things have been moving along quickly. We have all the framing done, windows in, plumbing started and electrical is up next. Right now my designer and myself are busy picking finishes, cabinets, plumbing fixtures and it does not let up. Building a house is a job in itself and I am SO glad I have a designer to help…more to come on that. 

One thing I was so surprised about that build is that everything is so organized. Starr Homes does such a great job keeping you informed on the timeline, what decisions will need to be made and making sure everything is moving along smoothly. There is an app that they use and it gets updating daily with build progress, change orders, important docs and almost all communication which is SO GREAT. I love the convenience and that all info/communications is kept right in one place.

I have been sharing a lot on my insta stories and always appreciate all the DM’s and comments from you girls over the past couple months.
