Stress is something that creeps into my life daily. With two young kids, a household to maintain and a business to run, there’s a lot going on. I’m sure you can all relate. This is why I try to check in with myself daily, usually in the morning, to keep stress at bay. These tips are great any time of year, but especially now if one of your new year’s resolutions is to be less stressed. I hope you find them helpful and they give you a little more peace on a daily basis.
Working out is my way of getting all my frustrations out. I honestly feel lighter after a good sweat session. And most importantly, I feel fresh and ready for the day with my kids. I’ve been reaching for everything Reebok lately as far as athleisure goes and love wearing these sneakers. Even if you only go for a walk around the block, just getting yourself moving helps keep stress to a minimum. I definitely never regret getting up and going, even when it’s so hard when bed is so comfy!
If meditation sounds a little woo-woo to you, start slow. Download the Headspace app and do one of their three minute guided meditations. Three minutes – that’s all it takes to start your day a little more calm, cool and collected. It pairs well with coffee, too.
I’m convinced water is the key to everything. Any time I get a headache or don’t feel quite right, it’s usually because I haven’t drank enough water. To eliminate this worry, I try to start every day by drinking a giant glass of water. It really makes such a difference!
Eat a healthy balanced breakfast
Starting the day off by feeding your body the nutrients it needs to keep you going will always make you less stressed. Knowing you got in some fruits, veggies and good fats and carbs will give you peace of mind.
Say one thing you are grateful for
I like to start my day on a positive note, so reminding myself what I’m grateful for encourages that. Even on those days where everything seems to be going wrong, hold one thing in your mind, no matter how big or small, that you’re thankful for.
