The holidays and cold weather are officially here! This means I’ve been spending a little extra time browsing through my favorite websites and brands in search of unique pieces for the season. My family and I have a lot on our calendar this year, so I’ve been looking for a few investment pieces I can wear more than once.
No matter what your budget is, it can be confusing trying to decide what closet items to invest in each season. I’ve learned over the years, though, what I wear most and where spending a little more money just makes sense. One of my favorite places to shop for these investment pieces is BB Dakota. They have so many quality items that every mom needs in her closet!
Below is my list of things I think are truly worth an investment because they can be styled in so many different ways. From workwear to parties to casual weekends running around with the kids. If you’re a mom on a budget looking for investment pieces, you’ve found them!
An amazing fall jacket
The temperature during the fall presents such a great opportunity for layering. I always find myself wanting a jacket that’s not too light and not too heavy. This year I went with a fringe, plaid option from BB Dakota and it fit the bill perfectly. The colors are neutral enough, but the mustard yellow is quintessential fall. If you want faux fur, I love this rose-colored option.
Neutral knits
For seasonal investments, you have to get yourself some good sweaters. Per usual, I like to stick with a soft, neutral color palette. This BB Dakota balloon sleeve sweater checks all those boxes. It’s not too trendy, so it’s bound to last me for several seasons. It’ll even wear perfectly in the spring too!
Comfort clothes
As a mom, I spend so much of my time chasing after the kids in joggers and sweatshirts. I used to not pay a lot of attention to the quality of these items, until I noticed I was constantly spending money buying new ones. This is when I decided it was worth investing in high-quality comfort clothes. I love this pair of joggers from BB Dakota along with this sweatshirt. The darker color and texture hides any of the kids’ leftover lunch that makes its way onto my clothes.
Cardigans
Cardigans are necessary to layer up under your jacket or to throw on over light tees and knits. I always keep a section of my closet reserved for cardigans because I love their versatility. One of my favorites right now is this fun fringe option. It’s very unique yet neutral, so it can still be worn with anything.
What pieces do you think are the best investments?
