I love decorating our home for the Holidays. It creates such a cozy environment & really gets us in the mood for the Christmas season. Throughout our home I keep the decor pretty simple & neutral with a few big statement pieces like our trees & mantle decor. With 2 young kids it is also necessary for us to not have too many things that can be easily grabbed & pulled — so I let my flocked trees speak for themselves without any ornaments, and I truly love the simplicity of them!
My favorite stockings for our family room mantle are from Pottery Barn.
This tree was worth every penny. It has two pieces you snap together and it’s ready! The flock does shed a little bit when you first put it up, but after it stays pretty and perfect. One of our trees was ruined in basement flooding last year and there was no question on ordering the same tree again.
I picked up these toppers this year at Anthropologie and love how they add a little adornment to our simple flocked tree.
I bring these rugs to the base of our trees and gather all the pillows to create a cozy place around the Christmas tree.
Around the Holidays I am always looking for little strings lights. They are festive and add a warmness to the room & decor.
I use eucalyptus all year round in my home, and for my holiday garlands, I love how it brings in a new texture & color, smells good & helps fill out my faux greens on my family room mantle.
In our more formal living room we took down the TV above the mantle. I was so excited to be able to decorate it without the TV being in the way. I added these candlesticks that I had in my fall decor on my family room mantle and hung these stockings from Crate & Barrel similar here. The garland in here is real from a local floral shop, Flowers by Emily. It is beautifully pieced together!
For my 2 mirror wreaths, I bought a 15′ fresh garland from Trader Joe’s & then cut it in half to make 2 wreaths. I simply laid out 2 circles with the garland and then used fishing string to tie it in a few places. The gold ribbon is tied on to part of the wall anchors on the back of the mirrors.
On my front porch I wanted to bring in some real trees & greens. I went to Suburban Lawn (local garden center) to get my trees, bundles of greens, large pinecones & birch logs. The large tree is a Norway Spruce & I placed it in this Galvanized Tree Bucket & a then put a smaller tree (a Dwarf Alberta Spruce) in one my black planters. I used 2 cedar bundles (a pre-bundled mix) & 2 pinecones in my back planter and then added some faux greens & berries as well. There is really no specific technique in placing the bundles & berries, once you start placing the pieces in the planters they start to overlap and hold each other in place. I like the different shades of greens each planter brings & well as the texture & color the berries & pinecones add.
These indoor/ outdoor lanterns (similar in stock here) are new this year & the color compliments our house trim perfectly. I also love that the candles are attached in place & battery powered. You can really dress them up by adding greens & ribbon or keep them more simple.
I hope this inspires some of your holiday decorating! It really is my favorite thing to do and I wish I could leave it up all year round! I listed all the sources below! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below.

Okay – but how do you hang the stockings on the mantle?
Love your style so much! What size shearling rug do you have? Great post 🙂
